Paul Simpson is a lecturer in public relations and communications at the University of Greenwich. Prior to this, he was at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, where he was the course director for their BA (Hons) Public Relations.
He has spent over 15 years in the PR profession, most notably including five years at BBC Radio 1, where as head of press, he was responsible for the profile of DJs including Chris Moyles, Jo Whiley and Scott Mills.
He has also spent a number of years in government and political PR, working for the Liberal Democrats, and for the then Department for Education & Skills/Home Office, supporting lead Minister John Denham’s work on young people.
As well as being a lecturer, Paul runs his own freelance PR consultancy (called ‘Dutch’), where his clients have included broadcaster Nicky Campbell, London radio station Kiss 100 and Mark Goodier’s production company, Wise Buddah.
His current interests are in the subjects of persuasion and influence; media relations; political PR; rhetoric and the broader subject of ‘story-telling’.
